Odissi & Thali intensives are an ideal alternative for those who cannot attend regular classes. This experience is entirely in-person and is structured into intensive sessions dedicated to delving into specific aspects of a choreography or composition. During these sessions, we focus on breaking down every second of the piece into its multiple elements: padas (footwork), mudras (hand gestures), symbolism, tala (rhythm), and Abhinaya (expression).
The intensives unfold in a warm and welcoming environment, where food becomes an integral part of the experience. For the summer edition, we move beyond the traditional thali to offer a curated culinary journey inspired by Indian flavors — vibrant, fresh, and seasonally attuned. Each meal is thoughtfully prepared to nourish the body and awaken the senses, creating moments of connection through taste, aroma, and relaxed summertime conversations.
In this 3-day intensive, we will learn a complete dance piece: a 6-minute abhinaya filled with dynamic energy, refined technique, and a melody that flows between stillness and vibrancy. Through Gungur’s original method, we will decode each line, each gesture, and each layer of meaning, as we immerse ourselves in the intimate atmosphere of the kunja—the sacred forest where the divine love between Radha and Krishna unfolds. More than a narrative, this dance invites us to experience the soul’s journey toward the divine through deep expression and inner connection.
Poet: Shri Banamali
Raag: Kedar
Taal: Khemta
Musica by Shri Srinibas Satpathy

leggings, and a choli (fitted blouse) or short-sleeved top.
Unfortunately, attending single days is not possible. This intensive is thematically designed to offer a deep and progressive learning experience of the choreography. Each day is structured into two sessions, with each building upon the last. To preserve the integrity of the process and ensure that participants receive the full benefit of the work, we require a commitment to the entire intensive. This allows for a complete, coherent, and immersive journey into the choreographic piece.
